Halloween

This year for Halloween I want to be something scary. You are supposed to be scary for Halloween. At Delano Park every year there is a Haunted House. I love to go in and check out what they have inside. It’s fun to try and figure out who is behind the scary costumes. After I get out of the Haunted House I want to go trick-or-treating. I like to go from house to house to get lots of candy. The best part of Halloween is eating all of the candy! All that candy makes me hyper. Halloween is fun.

A Trip to Target, by Jarod Leslie

One afternoon I went to Target with my mom and my little sister, Maribeth. We were walking around the store and I got distracted by a toy I liked and didn’t notice that my mom and sister kept walking. When I realized, they were nowhere to be found. I looked everywhere for them but had no luck finding them. I went to the second floor hoping to find them there but still I had no luck. Suddenly I heard someone announcing my name over a loud speaker. They were letting me know that my mom and my sister were on the first floor waiting for me. I took the escalator down and just as I got off I saw my mom and sister looking at me. My mom gave me a hug and said she was so happy to see me.

Monsters vs. Aliens, by Katherine Hernandez

One day I went to the movies with my dad to watch Monsters vs. Aliens. We were running late and we had to skip buying anything at the concession stand. I was very excited to see this movie and I didn’t want to miss the beginning. So I didn’t mind that we were going to have to watch the movie without the popcorn and soda. The movie was great! In the beginning it wasn’t as funny as I expected it to be. Then the movie was very funny and a little bit scary. There was also a sad part in the movie. My dad and I had a great time at the movies.

My Birthday Gift, by Maribeth Alonzo

One day for my birthday my Tia (Aunt) got me a fish. I was very happy to have a pet fish. I had the fish for a long time. My next birthday came, now I was seven, and I still had my pet fish. So I asked my mom, “When is my fish going to die?” My mom said there was no way of knowing this. I was worried that my fish was going to die soon but it didn’t. I had my fish for many years and then one day my fish was dead. I was sad. My mom and I had to flush it down the toilet.
